“An Incredibly Inclusive Group”
Today’s news may be dominated by Trump’s bungled attempt to institute a religiously based ban on Muslims entering the US, but as New York Magazine (NYM) points out, the White House offered up a “Jew-less Holocaust Remembrance” on Friday, a nice bit of airbrushing.
Perhaps the team over at the White House missed their school lesson on the Final Solution.
Perhaps not.
NYM also quoted US Senator Tim Kaine, (D-VA), “that downplaying the Nazis’ anti-Semitism is often a feature of Holocaust denial.”
The Alt-Right has settled in quite nicely at the Trump White House.
Reince Priebus, White House Chief of Staff, said “If we could wipe [the Holocaust] off the history books, we would, but we can’t,” on Meet the Press.
Or maybe they can, by slowly reducting the Holocaust to just a really tough time for a bunch of unlucky folks.
In an act of effective collaboration, the Republican Jewish Coalition said,“The lack of a direct statement about the suffering of the Jewish people during the Holocaust was an unfortunate omission.”
Unfortunate?
My, such strong language.
And, Hope Hicks, a White House spokesperson, said, “Despite what the media reports, we are an incredibly inclusive group and we took into account all of those who suffered.”
I feel better, already.
Don’t you?
